I write with a heavy burden in my heart, and with tears. Having
seen the good side of America, with huge potential to change the world for
good, I was devastated by my experience at Bowery House.
As my usual practice is, over the years, I have always relied
on booking.com. They have got a very excellent portal and a good resource for
tourists and frequent travellers like me. So,
having had a good time at my event at Sheraton, I got this hotel (Bowery
House) that has single room, and total charge for one night was 118USD. I
thought that was fair. There was no indication also that this single room has a
shared bathroom; as I never book for such.
I did not suspect any pranks when the hotel billed me instantly for one
night even before I got to see the room. I had actually booked for 5 nights.
When I eventually saw the room, my heart failed me. I was distraught!
It was the smallest, hideous and most terrible looking cabin I ever ever seen
my entire life. I wept like a child. The average prison sure have a better room
to offer and believe me; I would have opted for one.
The cabins were partitioned with thin plywood and open
ceiling. So you could hear the breath of everyone around you. The shared bathroom are “open” just like the
old days campus style.
I had no space on the floor to put my luggage so I had to
sleep with my bag on my bed as my pillow. The accommodation is inhuman,
undignifying and cruel. I tried to reach the manager in the morning, and I was
snubbed by the receptionist. I complained to her bitterly and guess what she
said: “sorry we did not meet your expectation, but other people sure like it”
Booking.com; you got it wrong this time; you sure did.
